With all the great minds on this site and the millions of brain cells on overload with negative sleep... what are you doing to unwind and relax? what are you going for fun? what have you found to be the best way to recharge?

unplug, don't open up TweetDeck, and watch something on the DVR.

I have to say, it is an overwhelming sensation to truly be plugged in. It makes me tired.

You really have to resign yourself to the fact that you are not going to be a part of every great conversation and beyond that and furthermore that great conversations happen all the time. That is to say, if you miss one you are assured to experience many more down the road. So - take it in manageable chunks and mindfully let the feeling of - missing something - go. The byproduct it better participation on your part when you can/do participate.

Great point of discussion - thank you for bringing it up.

My wife is always telling me, "Will you shut that laptop off"-lol
Its hard when you are in the groove of getting things accomplished, so it takes discipline on my part to set a cut off point for work. Then its basketball time!

Yoga, getting a backrub and sleep.
Working on a project in my art studio.
Writing a short story or a play.
Taking the dog for a walk and leaving my PDA phone at home.
Remembering that it's okay for a call on my work phone to go to voicemail every once and a while.
Always taking my lunch break, no matter what, even if it's 3pm by the time I get one.
Realizing it's okay if I'm not part of every little thing that happens.
Telling my friends no when I need to.
Telling myself no when I need to.

Now, if I could actually learn to implement the last one on that list, implementing all the other ones would be much easier. :)

Nice question!
May answer would be:
Set aside first your busyness.
Go to a quite, Peaceful place (garden, seashore, etc..)where you can Pray and read your Bible and Pray.
Listen to mellow songs of praise and worship.
Ponder the things that relates with God's Mercy and Grace.
Count your blessing one by one if you can (like the air that you breathe, the rain or sunshine, flowers, friends, any little things often neglected but are blessings indeed.)
you'll just find yourself beginning to Thank God for everything, and praising Him.
You even find yourself singing happy songs coz you're released, relaxed, and recharged..

To relax, Rewind and Recharge, here's my honest answer...
This is tried or tested and proven to be very effective..
First, stop take a pause or a break of what you're doing..
Find a serene place, peaceful and quite..
Play a soft and sweet sounding music..
Sit, open your bible and read it...
Then pray...
You can also sing along with the music you're playing and start praising God through giving Him thanks of all the things big and small He has done and given you...
Notice every single, tiny, almost nothing, anything you could see around you.
You'll see then how grateful you are..
Jesus is the source of Peace.. Real peace will He provide..
That no matter what is happening around you, you will be only be still and know He is God..
That, for me is the best way to relax, rewind and recharge..
God bless...

Amazingly enough, this orignal thread started about a year ago, so it is time to reflect and take the conversation on a turn. The original post was asking how are people unplugging and getting away... the turn is this: How are you relaxing INTO you positions? What are you doing to take time and reflect on what you've accomplished in the last hour, week, or year? What are you doing to recharge yourself professionally and give yourself that extra "Oomfph" for tomorrow and the next project to come?

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to answer Tara Smiley's question as I feel like I still have a lot of work to do, but whenever I'm working on a project, I take it step by step and take a breather between difficult ones. I like to write things down and seeing them in black and white and comparing them to where I started makes me feel relaxed and energized at the same time somehow.

Hi Anna - are you talking about this thread or the site in general? Sometimes, not all the activity is apparent, although the community page shows most of it!

This is a great discussion. Recently my wife and I took a trip down to Key West, which really recharged me. However, unfortunately a trip down to the Florida Key’s is not always an option, so what my wife and I do together is take a walk after dinner each evening by our neighborhood or the beach. This is really relaxing and a great time to just connect with your spouse. I highly recommend it.

The best thing that relaxes me is to cook up several dishes and lots of pitchers of cocktails drinks invite friends over and have an evening of fun and laughter. But most of all no talk of work
